NYC

Front gate
What I love about NYC in the summer is all the street fairs going on! There are all sorts of homemade goodies by talented people that you can find at these fairs. There are also delicious foods to try as well and there is enough variety to satisfy almost any craving. While in NYC, I stopped by the Hester Street Fair on the Lower East Side by Chinatown. My friend, Simon, is there every Saturday selling his yummy macarons at his Macaron Parlour stand. That was all the excuse I needed to check out this fair!

Mardi Gras king cake and condensed milk snoball
Shaved ice has gotten really popular in NYC in the last couple of years. Someone said it is the new cupcake. So after the High Line, Kenny and I stopped by to check it out. As if we haven’t had enough icy treats that day! (more…)

Walking the High Line
Jenny, Kenny, and I met at the High Line one afternoon. The High Line is a park built on the abandoned railroad tracks along the west side of Manhattan and currently spans 24 blocks. We started at the Beer Garden at W.30th Street and 10th Avenue. Beer gardens have gotten increasingly popular in NYC and usually pop up during the summer months. Some are in open spaces attached to a bar or on a rooftop with sweeping views of the city. We need a beer garden in Honolulu! It would be a great idea plus it would be open year round because the weather is perfect all year! (more…)
